Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Walter Crane could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work British Morn; Noon; Eve: Night changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 41,239.00) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Crane achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 424,650.00 (€ 656,837.38).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 424.650,00 (€ 656.837,38).
