Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three illustrations and a preparatory study for Arthur Kelly's The Rosebud and Other Tales - 'The Lawn Tennis Ball' by Walter Crane was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,074.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Crane achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 424,650.00 (€ 656,837.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Three illustrations and a preparatory study for Arthur Kelly's The Rosebud and Other Tales - 'The Lawn Tennis Ball' von Walter Crane kam im Dezember 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 424.650,00 (€ 656.837,38).
