Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Caucas by Walt Kuhn was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,664.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walt Kuhn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chico in a Silk Hat in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,590,000.00 (€ 1,408,700.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Caucas von Walt Kuhn wurde im März 2019 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.664,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walt Kuhn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chico in a Silk Hat im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.590.000,00 (€ 1.408.700,27).
