In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours including a Fine Collection of Old Master Prints, which included the work Portrait of a middle-aged man in armour by Wallerant Vaillant. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,759.06) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wallerant Vaillant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Young Man in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 32,500.00 (€ 30,003.69).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours including a Fine Collection of Old Master Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a middle-aged man in armour von Wallerant Vaillant zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.759,06) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wallerant Vaillant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Man im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 30.003,69).
