This artwork by W. R. Waters achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2005. In the British and Victorian Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a mother and child, seated three-quarter-length, the mother in a black dress with lace trim and a red cloak, the child in a white dress, in an interior sold for GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,584.98) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by W. R. Waters - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A foxhound in a parkland landscape, which sold at auction in February this year for GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,449.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von W. R. Waters erzielte im September 2005 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Victorian Paintings wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a mother and child, seated three-quarter-length, the mother in a black dress with lace trim and a red cloak, the child in a white dress, in an interior für GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.584,98) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00. Für andere Arbeiten von W. R. Waters mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A foxhound in a parkland landscape beobachtet, die im Februar diesen Jahres für GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.449,28) versteigert wurde.
