Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Two views in Mount Athos, Greece depicting the Monastery Dionysiou and the Monastery of Agios Pavlos (St Paul), a pair the first 24.8 x 34cm (9 3/4 x 13 3/8in); the other 25.1 x 34.3cm (9 7/8 x 13 1/2in). (2) by Amadeo Preziosi was worth GBP 16,500.00 (€ 19,562.61) to a buyer in March last year. This price was achieved in the auction Travel & Exploration at Bonhams in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Amadeo Preziosi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album de 79 vues de Malte, Italie, France, Bulgarie, Roumanie et Turquie in March 2004 with an auction result of EUR 228,250.00.
