This artwork by Virgilio Ripari achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2012. In the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art auction, the work Piccioni alla finestra sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,689.34) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Virgilio Ripari; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot La Wally sold at auction in May 2020 with the realized price of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,078.57).
