Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2002 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work Valetta harbour, Malta; and another view of the Maltese harbour (illustrated) by Vincenzo d'Esposito. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 1,027.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vincenzo d'Esposito - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of Valletta Harbour, which sold at auction in March last year for GBP 1,785.00 (€ 2,116.32).
