Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Phillips in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Marat (Sebastiao) Pictures of Garbage by Vik Muniz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 44,051.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Vik Muniz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sugar Children: Valentina, The Fastest; Jacynthe Loves Orange Juice; Big James Sweats Buckets; Lil' Calist Can'T Swim; Valicia Bathes In Sunday Clothes; Ten Ten'S Weed Necklace in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 293,000.00 (€ 277,409.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2008 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Marat (Sebastiao) Pictures of Garbage von Vik Muniz zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 44.051,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vik Muniz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sugar Children: Valentina, The Fastest; Jacynthe Loves Orange Juice; Big James Sweats Buckets; Lil' Calist Can'T Swim; Valicia Bathes In Sunday Clothes; Ten Ten'S Weed Necklace im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 293.000,00 (€ 277.409,58).
