Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A punt on the river by Victor Viollet-Le-Duc was sold in the European Noble & Private Collections Including Fine Tapestries Part II auction at Christies in London in April 2014. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,521.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Victor Viollet-Le-Duc - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On the river at L'Yonne, Bourgogne, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,082.81).
