This artwork by Victor-Jean Nicolle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2016. In the Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector auction, the work The Porta Maggiore, Rome; and The temple Minerva Medica with a wall and figures in the foreground sold for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,342.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Victor-Jean Nicolle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vue De La Colonnade De Saint-Pierre, Rome in June 2020 with an auction result of EUR 52,000.00.
