In the At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper auction, the work Portrait of an elderly lady, head and shoulders, in a dark green headscarf and brown coat sold for GBP 587.50 (€ 765.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vicente Lopez y Portaña achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Portrait of a Gentleman in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 29,875.00 (€ 42,932.00).
