Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Golden Hawk by Vaughan Murray Griffin. The price achieved of AUD 2,390.00 (€ 1,449.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vaughan Murray Griffin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Old Moreton Bay Fig, Banyule Heidelberg, which sold at auction in May 2005 for AUD 7,767.50 (€ 4,774.73).
