A top price for Utagawa Kokunimasa - as previously expected
The work Unknown by Utagawa Kokunimasa was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,560.00 (€ 1,229.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Unknown is the most expensive artwork by Utagawa Kokunimasa that we have observed at auctions so far.
