Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Unknown by Utagawa Yoshitomi. The price achieved of USD 1,147.50 (€ 1,172.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Utagawa Yoshitomi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unknown, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,498.12).
