Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Recto: Male Academy, seen from behind Verso: A preliminary study for a male nude by Ubaldo Gandolfi was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,229.91). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ubaldo Gandolfi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A sleeping legionary in a helmet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 373,250.00 (€ 448,791.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Recto: Male Academy, seen from behind Verso: A preliminary study for a male nude von Ubaldo Gandolfi im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.229,91) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ubaldo Gandolfi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A sleeping legionary in a helmet im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 373.250,00 (€ 448.791,07).
