This artwork by Tristram Ellis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2003. In the At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper auction, the work Overlooking the bay from the Parthenon, Athens sold for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,449.51) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tristram Ellis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Epping Forest, Walthamstow in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,711.09).
