This work of art by Tomson Laing could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Gathering seaweed changed hands for GBP 940.00 (€ 1,536.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Other works by Tomson Laing have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2002 by the work The old smithy at GBP 998.75 (€ 1,564.06).
