A top price for Tompkins Harrison Matteson - as previously expected
In January 2009 Christies in New York held the auction American Furniture and Decorative Arts including English and Dutch Delft, which included the work George Washington at Valley Forge by Tompkins Harrison Matteson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 314,500.00 (€ 245,626.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, George Washington at Valley Forge is the most expensive artwork by Tompkins Harrison Matteson that we have observed at auctions so far.
