Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The whaling brig Auriga off icebergs by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,400.00 (€ 1,880.29). Admittedly, works by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The opium trader Speculation, the P. & O. steamer Canton, the U.S. clipper Sea Serpent and Perry's U.S. Squadron lying off Hong Kong in November 2011 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,133.22).

Als die Arbeit The whaling brig Auriga off icebergs von Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson im Juli 2006 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
