The work The America's Cup, 2003: Alinghi's spectacular win over New Zealand in Auckland harbour by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,491.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The opium trader Speculation, the P. & O. steamer Canton, the U.S. clipper Sea Serpent and Perry's U.S. Squadron lying off Hong Kong in November 2011 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,133.22).
