Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Detachment Of Cromwell'S Cavalry Surprised In A Mountain Pass by Thomas Woodward was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 14,100.00 (€ 23,422.91). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Woodward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Pointer Coming Upon A Hare, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 30,550.00 (€ 50,749.63).
