Auction result well in line with expectations

In June 2001 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work A Bay Hunter In An Open Landscape by Thomas Woodward. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,663.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Woodward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Pointer Coming Upon A Hare, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 30,550.00 (€ 50,749.63).
