In December 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Thomas Egerton'S Chestnut Hunter With A Groom And Two Hounds And A Terrier In A River Landscape by Thomas Stringer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 46,250.00 (€ 59,539.09), 54% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Stringer; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Huntsmen And Hounds In A River Landscape With Stables Beyond sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of GBP 66,000.00 (€ 96,962.34).
