Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A landscape with a fisherman by a stream by Thomas Spinks was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,585.00 (€ 2,916.53). Other works by Thomas Spinks have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in September 2000 by the work A riverside walk at GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,342.43).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A landscape with a fisherman by a stream von Thomas Spinks im März 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.585,00 (€ 2.916,53) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Thomas Spinks wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im September 2000 die Arbeit A riverside walk mit GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.342,43).
