In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS, which included the work Betchworth Church, Surrey by Thomas Scott. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,378.77), 29% above the upper estimate. Other works by Thomas Scott have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,735.89) in October 2008 for the work Ploughing at Newstead Bridge, near Melrose, Roxburghshire.
