A top price for Thomas Schütte - as previously expected
In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Grosser Geist Nr. 13 by Thomas Schütte. The price achieved of USD 5,275,600.00 (€ 4,731,904.21) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Grosser Geist Nr. 13 is the most expensive artwork by Thomas Schütte that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grosser Geist Nr. 13 von Thomas Schütte zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.275.600,00 (€ 4.731.904,21) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000.000,00 – 6.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Grosser Geist Nr. 13 das teuerste Kunstwerk von Thomas Schütte, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
