Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in New York held the auction The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration, which included the work Muscat, Oman, 1980 by Thomas J. Abercrombie. The price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,843.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas J. Abercrombie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Nunamiut Boy and Mask, Alaska, c. 1958, which sold at auction in December 2012 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,531.78).
