Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Mosaics of the Friday Mosque, Herat, Afghanistan, c. 1972 by Thomas J. Abercrombie was sold in the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction at Christies in New York in December 2012. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,750.00 (€ 1,327.17), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas J. Abercrombie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Nunamiut Boy and Mask, Alaska, c. 1958 in December 2012 with an auction result of USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,531.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Mosaics of the Friday Mosque, Herat, Afghanistan, c. 1972 von Thomas J. Abercrombie wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.750,00 (€ 1.327,17) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas J. Abercrombie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Nunamiut Boy and Mask, Alaska, c. 1958 im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 8.531,78).
