Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny, which included the work Portrait Of Sir Edward Walpole (Later Second Earl Of Orford) by Thomas Hudson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,224.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hudson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 450,000.00 (€ 386,365.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Sir Edward Walpole (Later Second Earl Of Orford) von Thomas Hudson zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 450.000,00 (€ 386.365,59).
