Auction result misses estimated price range
In May this year a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of David Garrick (1717-1779), half-length, seated, holding a book by Thomas Hudson for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,739.82). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters at Christies in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hudson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 450,000.00 (€ 386,365.59).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 450.000,00 (€ 386.365,59).
