Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Hudson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2017. In the Old Master & British Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a lace collar sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,508.27) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hudson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 450,000.00 (€ 386,365.59).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of John and Robert, sons of Robert Ker, 2nd Duke of Roxburghe, in van Dyck costume with their two dogs, an extensive landscape beyond im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 450.000,00 (€ 386.365,59).
