Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work An Earnest Effort by Thomas Hovenden for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,597.62). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hovenden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Girl With Cabbage in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 75,000.00 (€ 63,035.80).

Im Oktober 2013 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit An Earnest Effort von Thomas Hovenden für USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.597,62) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Hovenden erzielen.
