In March 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Motherhood by Thomas Edward Roberts. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,625.00 (€ 14,343.77), 44% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Edward Roberts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Discovery in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 66,801.40).

Im März 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Motherhood von Thomas Edward Roberts zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.625,00 (€ 14.343,77) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Edward Roberts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Discovery im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.250,00 (€ 66.801,40).
