Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Day achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in April 2008. In the Important Miniatures from a Private Collection auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman sold for GBP 14,900.00 (€ 18,995.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Day; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of A Gentleman sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of GBP 19,700.00 (€ 25,114.72).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Day erzielte im April 2008 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Miniatures from a Private Collection wurde die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman für GBP 14.900,00 (€ 18.995,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Thomas Day; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman im April 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 19.700,00 (€ 25.114,72).
