Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Théophile Duverger could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting auction, the work French Soeurs changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,312.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Théophile Duverger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Blowing bubbles in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 30,550.00 (€ 34,426.41).
