This artwork by Theodore Roussel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2008. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work A clearing in the woods; and Elegant figures in a clearing sold for GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,343.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Theodore Roussel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portraits Of Dorothy, Countess Of Leicester (1598-1659); Lady Anne Rich (1612-1638); Anne, Countess Of Middlesex (D.1670); And Mary Kirk (1646-1711) in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,628.34).
