Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The fall of man by Theodor Baierl was sold in the 19th Century European Art including Orientalist and Spanish Art auction at Christies in London in July 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,734.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Theodor Baierl - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Decameron, The Garden of the Villa, which sold at auction in July 2021 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,317.68).
