Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Beauties on the bank of the Sumida River by Teisai Hokuba was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 29,800.00 (€ 20,957.87). Other works by Teisai Hokuba have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2021 by the work Two Beauties Under Blossoming Cherry Tree at USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,289.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Beauties on the bank of the Sumida River von Teisai Hokuba im September 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 29.800,00 (€ 20.957,87) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Teisai Hokuba wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2021 die Arbeit Two Beauties Under Blossoming Cherry Tree mit USD 25.000,00 (€ 21.289,28).
