Tan Jun
Tan Jun received his Master Degree in Chinese Painting at Central Academy of Fine Arts,Beijing. To Tan,creation is a process allowing one to experiment and grow. His works explored his own perplexed emotions over current existence state. He imbued traditional Chinese painting with contemporary qualities,forming a quaint and poetic appeal and an intriguing perspective.
In these series:Fantasy of Images,Wandering,The Kingdom and Floating Dust,Tan project himself into his works,having dialogue with the surrounding world. According to the artist,“wandering” is “an isolated roaming state,drifting into different life forms and imaginative space.” Created in 2012,Wandering series externalized the vulnerability and loneliness of life,as well as the love and compassion arose from that.
The artist was always fascinated by the graceful portrayal of gibbons in traditional Chinese paintings and their likeness to human,as well as their symbolic significance. He,thus,chose gibbon as the first image of the Wandering series. Though adopting a traditional theme in archaic palette,Tan configured an exceptional composition in Wandering No. 1. Tan particularly adores matters of peaceful nature as they instill a sense of eternity,perpetual presence in their own pristine manner. Tan’s works,too,can take their audiences into this artistic infinity where reality and illusion collides.

Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 China Guardian in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century and Contemporary Chinese Art, which included the work Wandering No. 1 by Tan Jun. It changed hands for a price of HKD 188,800.00 (€ 21,821.79) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Other works by Tan Jun have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2014 the work Vegetables 1-4 was auctioned for HKD 253,000.00 (€ 26,047.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2016 führte China Guardian in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century and Contemporary Chinese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wandering No. 1 von Tan Jun zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von HKD 188.800,00 (€ 21.821,79) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von Tan Jun konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Oktober 2014 die Arbeit Vegetables 1-4 für HKD 253.000,00 (€ 26.047,09) versteigert.
