Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Takamura Toyochika could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Seated Hotei (God of good fortune) changed hands for USD 2,868.00 (€ 2,333.22) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Other works by Takamura Toyochika have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2004 by the work Flat-Topped Vase with Ear Handles at USD 3,585.00 (€ 2,916.53).
