This artwork by Theodore Lux Feininger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2016. In the American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work The Black Mate sold for USD 21,250.00 (€ 19,262.15) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Theodore Lux Feininger; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Schiff Im Golf Von Siam (Ship In The Gulf Of Siam) sold at auction in February 2019 with the realized price of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,247.03).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Theodore Lux Feininger erzielte im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis.
