Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Barque "Monsoon" off Lin Tin Island by Sunqua was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,680.00 (€ 7,085.52). Admittedly, works by Sunqua have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Hongs of Canton, showing the French, American, British and Dutch flags in May this year with an auction result of GBP 60,480.00 (€ 70,368.88).
