The »bidding war« ended at GBP 998.75 (€ 1,458.77), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stuart Scott Somerville - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Scottish panelled hall, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,600.16).
