Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Astra reaching under spinnaker having crossed the bow of the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert (III) by Stewart Joyce was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 325.00 (€ 380.78). Admittedly, works by Stewart Joyce have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work White Heather at full pelt off Old Castle Point, Cowes in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,187.50 (€ 1,662.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Astra reaching under spinnaker having crossed the bow of the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert (III) von Stewart Joyce im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 325,00 (€ 380,78) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stewart Joyce auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit White Heather at full pelt off Old Castle Point, Cowes im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.187,50 (€ 1.662,81).
