Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Grand Opening by Stephen Westfall. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,020.00 (€ 901.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stephen Westfall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Persia, which sold at auction in July 2014 for USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,053.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grand Opening von Stephen Westfall zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.020,00 (€ 901,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Stephen Westfall mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Persia beobachtet, die im Juli 2014 für USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.053,77) versteigert wurde.
