Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Sporting and Marine Art, which included the work Vigilant, Britannia And Satanita From The Shore, Cowes 1894; Vigilant And Britannia Off Hunter'S Quay 1894 by Stephen J. Renard. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,289.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stephen J. Renard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Yankee, Ranger and Endeavour II racing in the New York Yacht Club Criuse, 1937 in July 2004 with an auction result of USD 77,675.00 (€ 64,557.01).
