Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Carovana nei pressi del Cairo, 1874 by Stefano Ussi was worth EUR 76,880.00 to a buyer in May 2002. This price was achieved in the auction ARTE DEL XIX SECOLO - 19TH CENTURY ART at Christies in Rome and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 18,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Stefano Ussi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Vers la Mecque sold at auction in December 2018 with the realized price of EUR 123,500.00.
