Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Greek monastery Of Iviron, Mount Athos by Spyros Papaloukas was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 49,250.00 (€ 57,494.33). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Spyros Papaloukas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Greek boatyard At Pantokrator Monastery, Mount Athos, which sold at auction in November 2017 for GBP 141,250.00 (€ 160,339.76).
