Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Sophie Chang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July 2020. In the Modern Art Evening Sale auction, the work Source Of Hope sold for HKD 2,312,500.00 (€ 253,365.47) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 800,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sophie Chang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A. Blessing; B. Untitled sold at auction in October 2019 with the realized price of HKD 3,750,000.00 (€ 428,619.45).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Sophie Chang erzielte im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Source Of Hope für HKD 2.312.500,00 (€ 253.365,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 800.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Sophie Chang; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A. Blessing; B. Untitled im Oktober 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 3.750.000,00 (€ 428.619,45).
